WFL Season VII
WFL VII
saw their second and last season in the United
States.
WFL HQ's made the announcement that the WFL will go
back to
Europe
next season, due lack of commitment of owners and started
the season in January 2003. This
season saw 4 different owners come and go. But the WFL
represents the phrase..."The show must go on!"
Making some quick adjustments, the league made a decision
that everyone will go to the post season, however, a
double elimination Tourney will be played .
Here are the teams and owners:
Swammp Division: Texans-Bulls (15-5),
Raiders-Williams (13-8), Cowboys-Taylor (7-11)
Cammp Division: Dolphins-Castro
(15-5), Steelers-Hilgar (15-5),
Jets-Diaz (9-9), Eagles-Bowen (7-12)
The Tourney was very tense and interesting. The #7 seed Eagles upsetted the #2 Dolphins in the 1st round and the #5
Raiders upsetted the #1 Steelers in the 2nd. The defending
Champs, #3 Texans flew under the radar and reached the
WFL Championship game. The Dolphins Coach Castro was
making their come-back season very interesting by chanllenging
the Texans in the WFL VII Bowl game however, once again
Coach Castro annouced that he would once again retire...win,
lose, or draw. WFL VII Bowl saw the 2 previous winners
of the WFL Bowl and also both Coaches had two WFL Titles.
This was a game for the ages, however, Coach Bulls and
his Texans were two strong for the Dolphins and
defeated them in the 1st game 37-14. Making the Bulls
Foundation the 2nd back-to-back Champions and a chance
for a 3-peat.
WFL Season VIII
This
was probably the most contraversal season in WFL
history! WFL VIII
kicked off the spring season in April 2003. Once again
an owner dropped and once again GM Castro jumped in
taking over the 0-3 Thunder team. The SWAMP
CAMMP
Tourney
was announced. It was an interival tourney between the
DFW
vs the WFL,
but it
faltered with the WFL
representing
and
leading the tourney 160 points to 130 points. And finally
the infamous playbook scandal where it was learned that
a team was able to select their desired offensive and
defensive playbooks of their choice...the only problem is
that not all the teams were privileged to this information.
But as usual, as the WFL
has done throughout the years...the league pushed on
finishing up the M2K3 version!
Division 1: Admirals-Bulls
(12-1),
Dragons-Williams (0-10), Thunder- Castro (2-8)
Division 2: Fire-Taylor (6-5), Claymores-Hilgar
(5-6), Galaxy-Bowen (9-3)
WFL VIII ended with the Admirals falling short of a perfect
season and a 3-peat. Opting to go for the win with 23
seconds left the Admirals failed to convert a
2 point conversion. The Galaxy, who earned their first
ever WFL Bowl
Championship, upsetted the
Admirals 38-37. Despite the playbook
epsisode the Galaxy earned a ring for the City
of Frankfurt!
WFL Season IX
WFL
IX kicked-off in September
2003, using Madden 2004. This season went back to the oldschool Europe
players. WFL IX
started with the following 6 teams and
owners:
Division 1: Admirals-Bulls
(8-2),
Dragons-Williams (3-6), Thunder-Castro (*na)
Division 2: Fire-Taylor (6-4), Claymores-Hilgar
(5-4), Galaxy-Bowen (1-7)
Once
again Coach Castro resigned his position in the league.
His reasons were not disclosed. In WFL X the Thunder will
be coached by Coach Diaz. The Fire found their way back
into the WFL Bowl. It has been a long hiatus and they
were victorious,
upsetting the Admirals.
*The
Thunder's
record was not accumulated.
WFL Season X
The
WFL
jumped into their 10th season...where does the time
go?
WFL
IX kicked-off in January
2004, using Madden 2004. This finished the season with the following 6 teams and
owners:
Division 1: Admirals-Bulls
(7-4),
Dragons-Williams (7-5), Thunder-Diaz (3-7)
Division 2: Fire-Taylor (4-6), Claymores-Hilgar
(8-4), Galaxy-Bowen (6-4)
Coach
Diaz rejoined the league after the retirement of Coach
Castro. He is no stranger to the Swammp Cammp and he
came ready to play and was more interested in getting
back into to the Madden groove.
Coach Williams and the Dragons won
their first ever WFL Championship and look forward to
defending the title next season. Being 1-for-1 in the big dance
is not bad at all.
WFL Season XI
How
time flies as the
WFL
moved into their 11th season. However, the season took
a turn and for the first time, the league shorten the
season.
WFL
XI kicked-off in
late March 2004, using Madden 2004. The following owners
finished the season:
Division 1: Admirals- Bulls
(7-0),
Dragons- Williams (2-5), Thunder-Diaz (0-5)
Division 2: Fire-Taylor (2-5), Claymores- Hilgar
(5-2), Galaxy-Bowen (0-5)
Coach
Diaz could not complete the season and as with all the
Thunder coaches...he eventually retired (but
he always returns). Despite
the shorten season, the Admirals showed their
dominance by going undefeated and winning their 4th
WFL Championship. The anticipation for M2K5 is higher
than ever and as with every season...its gets more and
more exciting!
WFL Season XII
WFL
XII started
in mid November 2004, with the new version of Madden
2005. This season was late starting up because the PC
version was delayed...good ole Madden. But also this
season saw the biggest expansion in WFL History. 14-teams
and to make it even more interesting, the league was
divided up into two conferences: The European Football
Conference (EFC) and the Canadian Football Conference
(CFC). This season was
going to be the best to date and hopefully be successful
with the new growth and new owers:
EFC

Fire-Taylor
(9-8), Galaxy-Bowen (9-9), Thunder-Diaz (4-11-1),
Admirals-Bulls (9-6-1), Centurions-Williams

This
season also saw the first ever European and Canadian
Cups won by the Galaxy and the Blue Bombers respectively. These two teams were also featured in
this seasons' World Bowl. This game did not disappoint
this game went down to the wire and featured a new WFL
record by ending the game with a combined 13 points.
The Blue Bombers prevailed 10-3 over the Galaxy.
Finally, the WFL saw its first WFL Pro-Bowl game won
by Coach Mark Jr. (CFC) over Coach Williams (EFC) 54-0.
WFL Season XIII
WFL
XIII commenced
on mid January 2005. This season went to a innovative
Game Block System (4 games in 3 weeks)...it was
a hit! The season got through 15 games in 8 1/2 weeks.
14-teams started the season but only 12-teams finished.
The WFL honored Coach Pop Bulls of the Admirals
has he eclisped the century mark in wins (100). The
WFL also said 'fairwell' to the Ron Bowen after his
retirement, maybe he will rejoin when he has the time.
Next season will see an 'Oldy' but a 'Goody' as Coach
oLdScHool takes the Galaxy squad next season. Here
were the final standings:
EFC
Conference: Fire-Taylor
(7-8), Galaxy-Bowen (5-8), Thunder-BB (14-3),
Admirals-Bulls (8-9), Centurions-Williams
(4-11),
Claymores-Hilgar (10-7), Blitz-Don (1-13-1)

(4-11-1), Renegades-Mark Jr. (10-7),
Tiger-Cats-Rice (9-6), Stampeders-Plunkett
(5-10)
The
European and Canadian
Cups were won by the Thunder and the Blue Bombers respectively. This featured the
World Bowl match up. This game was expected to be a
doozy and it was. Coach Dan and his Bombers were
trying to be the 3rd team to earn the right to be called
Back-2-Back Champs, while Coach BB and his Thunder
were trying to become the first WFL Rookie to ever
win a WFL Bowl.
The Thunder made history beating the Bombers
34-3.
Also the
CFC won another WFL Pro-Bowl game when Coach Dave (CFC) won
over Coach Pop Bulls (EFC) 16-13. The CFC leads the
series 2-0.
WFL Season XIV
WFL
XIV made
its comeback after a year off from Madden 06. The Madden
07 season kicked off in August 2006. The Europe (EFC)
teams and the Canadian(CFC) were back and were popular
as ever! The WFL site was overhauled and introduced
a Players and Coache's Hall of Fame. Old friend Coach
Gordon (Gmony) came back to the league and rookie Coaches
Vee, Adkins, and Muntono migrated from the CMFL and
participated in the league. One thing was for sure...the
WFL was back with a new and improved look and feel! Here
were the final standings:
EFC
Conference: Fire-Taylor
(3-8), Galaxy-Gordon (2-9), Thunder-Adkins (4-8),
Admirals-Bulls (6-7), Centurions-Williams
(2-9),
Sea Devils-Hilgar (10-3)
CFC
Conference: Bombers-Merrit
(12-1), Riders-Dave (11-2), Lions-Vee
(2-9), Renegades-Mark Jr. (7-4),
Tiger-Cats-Rice (7-5), Stampeders-Montuno
(5-6)
The
European and Canadian
Cups were won by the Sea
Devils and the Rough Riders respectively. The
World Bowl
XIV match up
however, was between Coach Dan and his Bombers and
Coach Hilgar and his Sea Devils. The last 4 WFL
Bowls had
one of these coaches in them. Coach Hilgar (0-2) was
trying to win his first title as Coach Dan (1-1) was
trying to win his second.
The Bombers came out on top 45-28 as the Bombers
won their second WFL Title!
